Our Apprenticeship Management Information System (Dynamics 365) is a purpose-built platform for regional apprenticeship authorities — combining a Dynamics 365 / Dataverse back office with Power Pages portals for training providers, apprentices and employers, covering provider designation, course scheduling, capacity management, training-provider funding and payments.
About the role
You will be the functional lead for implementations of Dynamics 365 for regional apprenticeship authorities — owning requirements, functional design and hands-on no-code/low-code configuration of both the Dynamics 365 back office and the Power Pages portals. You will run discovery workshops with business SMEs (training-investment analysts, program officers, finance staff), translate mandates like provider funding, designation and capacity management into user stories and configured product, and lead UAT, training and adoption. The role also supports pre-sales: scenario-based demonstrations and functional responses to RFPs.
Key responsibilities
- Lead functional delivery of Dynamics 365 engagements: discovery, fit-gap analysis, functional design, configuration, UAT and business cutover.
- Run requirements workshops with client SMEs and executives; document business processes, user stories, BRDs and acceptance criteria for both back-office and portal personas.
- Configure Dynamics 365 / Dataverse without code: tables, forms, views, business process flows, business rules, dashboards, security roles and status/stage models (e.g. contract and reconciliation workflows).
- Configure Power Pages portals: forms and multi-step processes, web roles, content, notifications — the training-provider, apprentice and employer experiences.
- Build Power Automate flows for approvals, correspondence, reminders and calculations (e.g. funding-band driven allocations, payment re-spreading).
- Design reports and dashboards with Power BI and D365 views: budget allocation vs operating budget, capacity utilization, registration progress.
- Lead fit-gap and backlog management in Azure DevOps: prioritization, sprint planning input, and traceability from requirement to release.
- Plan and run UAT: test scenarios, defect triage, sign-off; coordinate with developers on gaps that require code.
- Deliver training and adoption: role-based training materials, user manuals, train-the-trainer sessions, hypercare support.
- Support pre-sales: prepare and deliver scenario-based demos, contribute functional content to RFP responses.
Required qualifications & experience
- 7+ years as a business analyst / functional consultant on enterprise software, including 4+ years configuring Dynamics 365 CE / Power Platform (Dataverse).
- Proven functional lead on at least two full-lifecycle D365/Power Platform implementations, from discovery through UAT and go-live.
- Hands-on no-code/low-code configuration skill: model-driven apps, business process flows, business rules, security roles, Power Automate.
- Experience configuring external-facing portals (Power Pages) including web roles and form-based processes.
- Strong requirements craft: workshop facilitation, process mapping (BPMN or similar), user stories with acceptance criteria, fit-gap analysis.
- Experience designing and executing UAT, and producing training materials and user documentation.
- Agile delivery experience with Azure DevOps (or Jira): backlog grooming, sprint ceremonies, traceability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to executives and running demos for business audiences.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada; able to pass public-sector background/security screening.
Nice to have
- Microsoft certifications: PL-200 (Functional Consultant), PL-600 (Solution Architect), PL-100.
- Public-sector domain experience: grants/funding administration, licensing, case management, education/training program administration.
- Familiarity with financial processes — budgets, funding allocations, reconciliations, invoice approvals, ERP handoffs.
- CBAP/CCBA or equivalent BA certification.
- Power BI report building; document-generation tooling; basic Liquid/portal customization awareness.
